GET OFF THE CROSS

Il Silver EP dei Jesu, appena appena uscito, è uno dei miei ascolti ricorrenti. Direi quasi ossessivi, allo stato attuale delle cose. C'è qualcosa che mi suona tremendamente famigliare, ma non perchè mi ricordi un altro gruppo o altre canzoni, c'è proprio qualcosa che mi attrae fortemente nella contrapposizione di ruvido e vellutato e che mi fa sentire come se avessi aspettato anni per sentire il primo pezzo, Silver proprio. Ha come risvegliato un'eco che avevo in testa sopito da qualche parte. Mah. Non capisco bene. Poi, sto forse impazzendo? La cosa più vicina a Silver che io abbia mai sentito sono i Boards Of Canada, o almeno così mi pare. Ho fatto la domanda a Justin Broadrick e mi ha risposto. Forse non mi ha dato di volta il cervello.
Listening to Silver I thought I got some kind of Boards Of Canada-ish vibe. Silver actually sounded to me like it was an experiment in matching the Godflesh/Jesu mechanics with a more shoegazing, purely electronic, almost pastoral sound. Is this crazy?
